In 2026 the **trademark renewal fee is TRY 8,730 for up to two classes**; TRY 750 is added for each third and subsequent class. A **late (surcharged) renewal**, made after the renewal window has been missed and the term of protection has expired, costs TRY 15,420 for up to two classes. These amounts are the official fees paid to TÜRKPATENT, Turkey's patent and trademark office; if you work through a trademark attorney, a service fee is added separately.

You pay it once every 10 years; there is no annual maintenance fee in between. Two things set the amount: how many classes you renew and when you pay. Pay late and the surcharged rate is roughly double. The procedure itself is in our guide [Trademark Renewal in Turkey: What It Is and When to Renew](https://www.webx.net.tr/en/blog/how-to-renew-a-trademark), and if the deadline has already gone, read [What Happens If You Miss the Trademark Renewal Deadline?](https://www.webx.net.tr/en/blog/missed-trademark-renewal-deadline)

## 2026 Trademark Renewal Fees: The Official Schedule

The renewal items in TÜRKPATENT's 2026 fee schedule are as follows:

| Fee schedule item | 2026 fee |
| --- | --- |
| Trademark renewal fee (up to two classes) | TRY 8,730 |
| Renewal fee for each additional class (third and subsequent classes) | TRY 750 |
| Renewal fee for a trademark whose term of protection has expired (up to two classes) | TRY 15,420 |
| Each additional class for a trademark whose term of protection has expired | TRY 1,310 |

The schedule is renewed each year by a communiqué published in the Official Gazette around 31 December. When you actually file, confirm the amount on TÜRKPATENT's "trademark procedure fees" page.

## How Is the Fee Calculated?

The only variable is **the number of classes to be renewed**. The base fee covers the trademark's scope up to two classes; from the third class onwards, each class is charged separately. Whether the trademark is a word mark or a logo, whether its owner is an individual or a company, and the trademark's age or reputation do not affect the fee.

Worked examples (2026, official fee):

| Scope | Normal renewal | Late (surcharged) renewal |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1 or 2 classes | TRY 8,730 | TRY 15,420 |
| 3 classes | 8,730 + 750 = TRY 9,480 | 15,420 + 1,310 = TRY 16,730 |
| 5 classes | 8,730 + (3 × 750) = TRY 10,980 | 15,420 + (3 × 1,310) = TRY 19,350 |

The gap widens as the number of classes rises, and delay is the most expensive item in every scenario. For a five-class trademark, missing the window costs TRY 8,370. That is almost a second renewal fee.

## What Makes Up the Total Cost?

### 1. The Official Fee

The fee schedule amounts above are paid directly to TÜRKPATENT. For renewal there is no separate fee for issuing a registration certificate, for notarisation or for additional documents; the basis of the procedure is the existing registration, and no documents are submitted to the file.

### 2. Attorney / Service Fee (If You Use a Trademark Attorney)

Trademark owners resident in Turkey can carry out the renewal themselves through EPATS, TÜRKPATENT's online filing system; in that case the only cost is the official fee. For those who prefer to work with a trademark attorney, a service fee is added to the official fee. A well-structured renewal service does more than fill in the form: it verifies the protection date, checks that the trade name and address entries in the register are up to date, supports the scope decision (full or partial) with advice and ties the next renewal period into the calendar. What an attorney changes more generally is the subject of [What Is a Trademark Attorney?](https://www.webx.net.tr/en/blog/what-is-a-trademark-attorney-in-turkey)

### 3. The Late Renewal Difference (Only If the Window Was Missed)

The surcharged rate is not a "penalty point" but simply a higher fee, and its only cause is timing. The way to avoid paying this item is simple: renew as soon as the window opens.

## How Do Fees Work for Partial Renewal?

A trademark can be renewed for only some of the classes covered by its registration. The fee schedule has no separate item specific to partial renewal; the fee is calculated under the standard schedule on the basis of **the number of classes renewed**.

For the payment, that means:

- **With three or more classes, the saving is real.** Reducing a five-class trademark to three classes saves TRY 750 per class in 2026.
- **Below two classes there is no saving.** Because the base is a single "up to two classes" amount, reducing two classes to one does not change the payment.

The decision should not be made on the fee alone: protection in the dropped classes ends permanently, and if you need protection in that area again, a new application from scratch will be required. Dropping a class that is unused but has a place in your business plan in order to save TRY 750 is, more often than not, a bad trade.

## How and When Is the Fee Paid?

1. **Timing:** The request and payment are completed within the final six months before the date on which the term of protection expires. Filing only the request and leaving the payment until later invalidates the procedure: a renewal request whose fee has not been paid has no effect.
2. **Channel:** The renewal request is created through EPATS by logging in with e-Devlet, Turkey's government services portal; payment can be made online within the same system.
3. **Afterwards:** If the conditions are met, the renewal is recorded in the register and published in the Official Trademark Bulletin; the new 10-year term runs from the day following the day on which the previous term ended.

If the window has been missed, the same procedure can be carried out at the surcharged rate for six months from the expiry of protection; for each scenario, see [what happens if the deadline passes](https://www.webx.net.tr/en/blog/missed-trademark-renewal-deadline).

## Renewal or a New Application? A Cost Comparison

The reasoning "the trademark has expired anyway, I will just file a new one" is wrong both on cost and on risk. For a two-class trademark at 2026 official fees:

| Item | Renewal | New application |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Application fee (2 classes) | — | 2,820 + 2,820 = TRY 5,640 |
| Registration fee | — | TRY 7,010 |
| Renewal fee | TRY 8,730 | — |
| **Official total** | **TRY 8,730** | **TRY 12,650** |
| Similarity examination / opposition risk | None | Yes — if refused, the application fee paid is not recovered |
| Priority date | Preserved without interruption | Reset |

Each item of a new application is broken down in [Trademark Registration Fees in Turkey 2026](https://www.webx.net.tr/en/blog/trademark-registration-fees-in-turkey-2026). Renewing on time, by contrast, is the cheapest option in every scenario and the only one without risk.

## Three Realistic Ways to Save

1. **Renew at the start of the window.** Early renewal causes no loss of rights and eliminates any chance of paying the surcharged rate. On its own, this is the most effective saving.
2. **Factor in the year-end increase.** The fee schedule is updated every year and amounts generally rise. If your renewal window spans December and January, complete the procedure in December under the current year's schedule.
3. **Streamline the scope deliberately.** For trademarks with more than three classes, some of which have not been used for years, partial renewal is a real saving. Base the decision on your future business plans, though, not just on today's bill.

If you need to know how to carry the renewal expense in the company's books, see [How Should Trademark Registration Costs Be Recorded in the Accounts?](https://www.webx.net.tr/en/blog/accounting-for-trademark-registration-costs)

## Four Calculation Errors That Skew the Renewal Amount

### 1. Counting the Classes from the Original Application

The fee is calculated according to the trademark's **current scope as recorded in the register**. The application filed ten years ago may have covered five classes; but if it was partially refused during examination or its scope was narrowed following an opposition, the register will show three classes today, and the amount payable is based on three classes. Always start the calculation from the register entry.

### 2. Expecting a Discount for a Single Class

The base fee is a single "up to two classes" amount. Renewing a single-class trademark costs as much as renewing a two-class trademark; there is no "half base" in the fee schedule. This also matters in the partial renewal decision: reducing two classes to one does not change the fee.

### 3. Not Separating the Items in "All-Inclusive" Quotes

Ask for the official fee and the service fee to be stated separately in attorney quotes. The official fee is the same with every attorney and goes to TÜRKPATENT; quotes can only be compared on the service fee. A quote that does not separate the items prevents you both from comparing and from checking it against the current fee schedule.

### 4. Paying the Normal Rate During the Surcharge Period

Paying the normal renewal fee after the term of protection has expired does not save the procedure; renewal in the grace period can only be carried out at the surcharged rate. Until the underpaid fee is made up, the request has no effect, and meanwhile the six-month grace period keeps running. If you are not sure which period you are in, first establish the protection expiry date.

## Is There Government Support for Renewal?

The current guidelines of the Entrepreneur Support Programme of KOSGEB (Turkey's Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organisation) list domestic patent, utility model and design certificate costs; trademarks appear in that programme only as a **foreign trademark registration certificate**, and domestic trademark renewal fees are not covered. Because the scope and upper limits of support programmes change from period to period, it does no harm to check the current programme conditions before renewal all the same. Support at the registration stage is set out in [KOSGEB and Government Support for Trademark Registration](https://www.webx.net.tr/en/blog/kosgeb-grants-for-trademark-registration).

## The Real Cost Difference Comes from the Date

A surcharged renewal costs at least TRY 6,690 more than a normal one, and the only reason is the date. Narrowing the scope saves money only from the third class upwards, and the choice of attorney affects only the service fee. Get the timing right and renewal stops being a payment squeezed in on the last day; it becomes routine portfolio maintenance once every 10 years.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How much is the trademark renewal fee in 2026?

Under TÜRKPATENT's 2026 fee schedule, trademark renewal costs TRY 8,730 for up to two classes (item 02.01.23), plus TRY 750 for each third and subsequent class (02.01.32), so a three-class trademark costs TRY 9,480 in total. Renewal in the grace period after the term of protection has expired costs TRY 15,420 for up to two classes (02.01.24). These are official fees excluding any attorney's service fee, and the schedule is updated every year.

### Is the trademark renewal fee paid every year?

No. Trademark protection lasts 10 years from the filing date, and the renewal fee is paid once every 10 years, together with the renewal request (SMK Article 23). There is no annual maintenance fee or interim payment, and nothing is paid to the Office between two renewals to keep the trademark in force. Unlike the annual fees for patents, the payment falls only in the last six months before expiry or in the grace period.

### How much is the late (surcharged) trademark renewal fee?

Under the 2026 fee schedule, renewing a trademark whose term of protection has expired costs TRY 15,420 for up to two classes (item 02.01.24) and TRY 1,310 for each third and subsequent class (02.01.33). Compared with TRY 8,730 in the normal period, the delay nearly doubles the official fee, a difference of TRY 6,690 for up to two classes. These amounts apply only in the six-month grace period after expiry, and the schedule is updated every year.

### Does the fee go down if I renew only part of the trademark?

Yes, if the trademark covers three or more classes: each class dropped above two reduces the payment by TRY 750 under the 2026 schedule (item 02.01.32), or TRY 1,310 in the grace period (02.01.33). There is no separate fee item for partial renewal, and the base amount is a single "up to two classes" figure, so reducing two classes to one does not lower the payment. Protection in dropped classes ends permanently.

### When must the renewal fee be paid?

The request and payment must be completed within the last six months before the term of protection expires (SMK Article 23(2)). If proof of payment is not submitted in time, the request is deemed not to have been made, and for renewals the Office sends no separate notice about an underpaid fee (Industrial Property Code). If the deadline is missed, renewal is possible in the six-month grace period after expiry only at the surcharged rate (02.01.24).

### Who pays the trademark renewal fee?

The registered trademark owner who requests the renewal pays the fee; the request is made by the owner or their attorney (SMK Article 23(2)). If an assignment has not yet been recorded, it should be recorded first. Where the trademark is licensed, the contract can decide which party bears the renewal cost, but before the Office the party to the procedure is always the owner shown in the register. The fee is calculated on the trademark's current class coverage in the register.

### What is the total cost of renewal through a trademark attorney?

The total is the official fee paid to TÜRKPATENT plus the attorney's service fee. The official fee is the same with every attorney: TRY 8,730 for up to two classes under the 2026 schedule (item 02.01.23). The service fee covers file checks, verifying that the register is up to date, advice on scope and deadline tracking, and it varies from firm to firm. Ask for the two items to be shown separately and request a quote using your file number.

### Will renewal fees change in 2027?

Very probably, yes. The TÜRKPATENT fee schedule is updated at the end of every year by a communiqué published in the Official Gazette (Resmî Gazete), and amounts generally rise; next year's figures become final only once that communiqué is published. If your renewal window spans the year end, completing the renewal in December under the current year's schedule pays off. Renewing early costs no rights, because the new term starts the day after the old one ends (SMK Article 23(5)).

### Is it cheaper to regain an expired trademark by filing a new application than by renewing?

No, renewing on time is cheaper. Under the 2026 fee schedule, the official total for a new two-class application (application plus registration fee) is TRY 12,650, whereas renewing the same trademark costs TRY 8,730. Grace-period renewal (TRY 15,420) costs more on paper, but a new application is examined from scratch, can be refused, fees paid are not refunded on refusal, and the original priority date is lost; renewal carries none of these risks.
