The registration certificate grants the owner an exclusive right of use and legal protection throughout Turkey.

An unregistered trademark is legally unprotected. Your competitors can register the same or a similar name and bar you from using it. Registration gives you the right to sue in case of infringement, claim damages and stop counterfeit goods at customs.

No, it is not legally mandatory; a trademark can be used without registration. However, unregistered use makes proving and protecting your rights in the mark almost impossible, which is why registration is recommended for every business engaged in commercial activity.

A trademark, by contrast, is the sign that presents goods and services in the market and is protected by a separate registration with TÜRKPATENT; a company may have a registered trade name yet an unregistered trademark.
